Origins of the association
Following the meeting between the "Association Sport Vie Education Culture" (ASVEC) and Airbus employees in internal training ("Training"), a video report project on the discovery of Airbus was born. This project, carried out with a group of young people as well as a group of parents from Bellefontaine, allowed young people to discover the world of aeronautics in Toulouse as well as that of the Airbus company.
The investment of young people in this film project “ I believe I can fly ” gave the team of adults who supported them the idea of using this dynamic as an educational tool.
During the screening of the film to families and local partners in 2012, some young people involved in the action expressed the desire to be able to continue meeting with the aeronautical community and devote themselves to the construction of a flight simulator (A320 ) full-scale.
From there, the foundations of the associative project "A Piece of Blue Sky" were laid, revealing responses to the projects of young people wishing to move towards the aeronautical professions.
The team, accompanied by a group of highly motivated and invested young people, began to structure the “Un Piece de Ciel Bleu” project using the themes of the Aeronautical Initiation Certificate (BIA) as a framework.
To bring these young people towards their dream of aeronautics and especially to support them in their professional orientation project, it was important to put in place the conditions favoring discoveries, experiences and learning:
Participation in the Festival “Des Etoiles et des Ailes” 2012 - Presentation of the draft simulator dashboard.
Visit to ENAC - Flight and air traffic control simulator in cooperation with the ENAC Communication Department
Meeting with the Principal and teachers of the Lycée Saint Exupery de Blagnac: Support for the construction of the simulator
Discovery internships in 3rd year at Airbus in the “in-flight operations” Department - Thanks to the personal investment of company employees met during the film project.
Start of construction of the simulator
After a construction outline carried out by the young people in self-management, the management team (made up of Antoine Deranchin and Philippe Le Bris) realized that the group had to be helped in the structuring of the simulator manufacturing project.
The action "A Piece of Blue Sky", developed by ASVEC, invested by 5 young people from several districts of Toulouse, offers a journey of discovery around aeronautics, meetings as well as concrete actions that follow one another. throughout the 2012/2013 school year.
The project was structured around the Aeronautical Initiation Certificate (BIA) - examination of the National Education and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC). Through meetings with professionals, outings in aeronautical companies and associations (Airbus, Ailes Anciennes Toulouse, etc.) as well as in high schools and schools (Saint Exupéry, ENAC), the teenagers were able to acquire the skills necessary for Graduation.
In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.
The group has also taken part in aeronautical events in the region (such as the “Des Etoiles et des Ailes” Festival or the “AirExpo” meetings), but also in the prestigious Paris Air Show.
Keeping the notion of pleasure as the main driving force of the project, the management team also organized, with its partners (ENAC and Citoyens du Ciel), glider, airplanes and microlight flights.
During this period, several young people in the group passed the Aeronautical Initiation Certificate and others took steps to go to high schools which offer aeronautical training.
In order to materialize all these achievements, to get even closer to the cockpit of an airplane and to continue their project towards autonomy, some young people of the group have been supported in the creation of a Junior Association "Fly To Dream", supervised by Antoine and Philippe.
The Airbus A 320 flight simulator construction project then took off! In order to respond to the various technical problems, partners, called upon by the management team of the “Un Morceau de Ciel Bleu” project, joined the “Lycée Saint Exupéry” project. "
This experience of collective construction (by and for young people) had a strong impact on the acquisition of new knowledge but also and above all with regard to self-esteem and self-confidence.
During the inauguration of the full-size A320 flight simulator, the association "Fly To Dream" and the association "Un Morceau de Ciel bleu" were presented to an audience of elected officials but also to aeronautical professionals present. during this event.
Since 2011, “A Piece of Blue Sky” has been a project developed and supported by Philippe Le Bris. The end of the ASVEC association slips the project towards the creation of an association.
It is therefore in July 2013 that to continue the action on the existing dynamics and of the project, the association “Un Piece de Ciel Bleu” was born (Declared in the JO on 20/07/2013).
